Where to Stay
We have room blocks at three local hotels, and will be coordinating shuttles to and from them over the course of the weekend.
You are of course welcome to stay wherever you’d like in the surrounding area, but if you’d like to catch shuttles to the welcome party, wedding ceremony, and other activities, please book a room at one of the following hotels!
Please mention our names when booking.
Matfen · 30 min from venue
Matfen Hall is a Georgian country house hotel set in 300 acres of Northumberland countryside, originally built in the early 19th century for the Blackett family. The estate is renowned for its golf course, as well as a spa and fine dining restaurant housed within the hall.
Wedding rate from
£500 /night
please email Alyson at alyson.thompson@matfenhall.com and let her know that you’re booking a room for the Mendía/Herbert wedding!
Allensford · 17 min from venue
Derwent Manor overlooks Derwent Valley, and is a 17-minute drive from Lord Crewe Arms, on the other side of the Derwent Reservoir. It has a Leisure Club with an indoor pool, sauna, spa bath and fitness center, as well as dining options at Prego Restaurant and the cozy Antler Bar and Grill.
Wedding rate from

Please call Derwent Manor at +44 1207 592000 and let them know that you’re booking a room for the Mendía/Herbert wedding. You can also book a room directly on their website (for example, the cottages aren’t included as part of our room block, so if you’d like to book one, you’ll have to do it directly through the website).
Blanchland
A 12th-century former abbot’s house turned boutique hotel, right on the village square besides the Abbey. It’s a small hotel, so these rooms have been blocked for the wedding parties and immediate family.
ViewNorthumberland is stunning — if you can, arrive a day early or stay a day later to explore the castles, coast, and dark skies.
